This month my giveaway picture is a unique monoprint on paper, and it is called “Poinsettia” for obvious reasons. The image size is 36 x 27 cms. This painting is part of a rather old flower series, recently discovered at the bottom of a draw, but I am still rather fond of it, so hope you don’t mind this giveaway being more representational and less abstract than normal. Poinsettias are some of my favourite flowers (although I do have to be careful with the cats), and I miss the big tropical bushes of them in Africa and warmer climes.

This month my giveaway picture is a mixed media piece on paper, and it is called “Glimpse from The Shard VII”. The image size is 21 x 29 cms. This painting is part of a series, most using mixed media and collage and a couple of oil on canvas based on a glorious visit to the top of The Shard in London on a sunny afternoon (very lucky with the weather). We stayed up the top to watch the sun set over London and all the lights then appear, absolutely magical.

This painting is based on one of the beaches in Ithaka that we could walk to from where we (a bunch of artists) were staying at the lovely small family hotel run by Nicki in Frikes, Ithaka (Hotel Nostos).

This month my giveaway picture is a collage piece with a little bit of mixed media and it is called “Tuscan View with Vines I” and is on paper. The image size is 14 x 15 cms. This collage is based on a wonderful visit to a house in a vineyard in Tuscany 18 months ago with stunning views of the vines and surrounding landscape from the garden, it was in August, so sunny and warm, sitting out at night eating supper quite magical.

This month, the picture is a collage piece with a little bit of mixed media and it is called “Porthleven, Looking Out” and is on paper. The image size is 21 x 29 cms. This collage is based on the view from the bottom end of Porthleven Harbour in Cornwall, looking out to sea. There are several very handy benches positioned at the end of the harbour used by lots of people and great to be able to get your sketch book out. Porthleven is unusual as it is a double harbour and the inner harbour has a narrow entrance that is shut with boards when the weather is inclement – which can be quite often in Porthleven.

This month my giveaway is a collage piece with a little bit of mixed media and it is called “Menorca, Aerial View VII” and it is on paper. The image size is 29 x 21 cms. This collage is from a series I did from aerial photographs taken over the island of Menorca. My parents lived in Menorca for many years and for some time I found the island too pretty to be inspiring and then I went up in a small plane and did a half an hour flight over and around the island, totally inspiring, took hundreds of photos and have done loads of work from them coupled with sketching on the ground.

Unusually this month my giveaway is an oil painting and it is called “Sea Pool Gate” and it is on canvas. The canvas size is 40 x 31 cms. A couple of years ago when we went to Bude (as part of Freedom in Painting course based mainly in Port Isaac which I do every year in May) the big sea pool there was undergoing renovations and had been emptied and the gate that keeps the water in removed and looked partially like a construction site – quite different to how the pool normally looks.
